AUGUST

Back home.

Straight from the sunrise over the ocean and the warm, crystal clear saltwater swims late in the evenings. Being outdoor as a default setting. Healing as hell.

When autumn comes knocking it brings both a sense of melancholy and excitement in my being. That is a very interesting feeling as it makes me feeling very alive and present.

What I will bring with me from the long Summer on Hydra:

  • all senses are equally important to enhance life’s experiences : scents/the kind of light the day brings/strong or slow winds/beauty in the surroundings

  • eating slowly

  • being in nature everyday no matter the weather or wherever I am in the world

  • routine is essential. It´s not boring its the key to complete freedom and creativity

  • moving slowly

  • not being busy as a default setting that Ive easily fallen back into in harder times. Being busy all the time doesn’t mean -good girl working hard- it’s a trauma response to feel afraid of slowing down because what will happen if I loose control of everything I´m trying to control with my ¨state of business´. Stillness is the only way to clarity and forward movement and not living in the future

  • literature that doesn’t sweep me off my feet on the first page is not a book I will try to force myself through.  The days in our lives are too short to choose to force things that should be enticing/alluring/exciting/inviting/seducing/mind blowing/.  The books I keep forever and ever and re-read are those who does that, that moves me.  Movies and experiences. If it doesn’t move me , why do I keep trying? Rule goes for relationships and all kinds of experience we think we should love/like/try/. It’s not wrong to change what we like and what we want to to any given morning that we wake up. Habits and things we have collected and added unconsciously throughout our lives are sometimes not completely aligned with freedom of expression and creation

  • creating

when I experience a profound sense of purpose all living is enhanced where ever I am whatever I do. When I wrote music in my younger years it was lonely but when melodies and lyrics pulls a string in other people who listens, connection is created. When I paint, I escape reality, escape captivity and time. It´s like Ive found this formula, a secret…  The true and clear purpose of creating…. feeling utterly connected to life and to feel truly free

ALL AND EVERYTHING AND MORE

I have dreamed of going to this island and now we are staying for a month. A dream coming true.

I ove being in this state of mind. Full of dreams, expectations, excitement…. they say we shouldn’t live in the future but to me it’s bullshit, we all live now but if we not dream what are we then?

ALL AND EVERYTHING AND MORE

flying solo with my 3 kids, got a meme from a friend the other day, it goes like this:

1 kid is 1 kid

2 kids are 2 kids

3 kids is 97645368 kids, 2 hurricanes + 1 donkey

I find that hilarious and oh so true because that’s exactly how I feel! All of them are pinch me amazing and extravagant enviable human, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that my three little women together makes a party of 100 (plus a donkey)

But anyway I did it! And Alix did not sit still for one minute the entire 44 min flight so I imagine three coming weekend´s 4 hour flight will be a tango ! Soundtrack to the trip in my head walking up and down the airplane : Emotion – Purple Disco Machine

ALL AND EVERYTHING AND MORE

Feels.

Focus and getting out of my own way to bring out into the world what I have within

ALL AND EVERYTHING AND MORE

on my essential life list for the rest of my days on this earth

  • painting as it is my being
  • meaningful and true friendships
  • creating
  • meeting new people
  • seeing new places
  • never stop being curious
  • having fun
  • not taking life too serious
  • live music
  • dancing
  • all kinds of movement
  • community
  • expansion
  • painting

I read about her Constance debré), in svenska dagbladet and I stepped into Hedengrens to buy all of her books, I wanted to read them in Swedish not in English. They had only this one translated from French. I wanted to read the raw language of her own as much as I could and sometimes English doesn’t hit as hard. When I read the reviews it was intriguing . I had to read her right now, and when I got the book I read it in one day. I cannot say much yet except that I couldn’t let go. This woman wants to be free. A woman can never go free. A groundbreaking read, terribly heartbreaking and sad.

SAINT-PAUL-DE-VENCE

my most loved mother turned 70 and my entire family celebrated her birthday in the beautiful village of St Paul De Vence in France.

So incredible to be able to visit La Colombe D´or and see it’s incredible art collection… This village was a spot for the greatest  artists of time and to see Alexander Calder among other works has been something Ive always wanted to do and it was even more breathtaking in reality.

Huset. Det är vårt. Leaving town.

A house adorned

Detta hus av en dansk arkitekt från 1950, har trasiga fönster, en orörd trädgård som behöver enormt mycket kärlek, med betoning på enormt. Det har ett litet staket som hänger på en liten tråd. Det finns tre braskaminer…

/interview for babyshop

Emelie has lived in six countries and is the mother of two daughters with a third on the way. Soon the whole family moves home to Stockholm again after years in New York and Zurich. We asked Emelie about what she packs in the maternity bag, how they decorate the children’s new rooms and about the durability of children’s clothes.

interview x

HI EMELIE! TELL ME, WHO ARE YOU?
– Hello! I am a vagabond (can you even say that anymore?). I have lived in six countries, hence the description! I am the mother of two little daughters and am expecting my third after the summer. I am an artist, yoga instructor and designer. Interests? Painting, yoga, traveling, surfing, reading, hanging out a lot with my friends and family.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHILOSOPHY TOWARDS LIFE?
– Be quick to laugh and do not take life so seriously (glass half full), have compassion for other people, feel gratitude for the little things and dare to do what everyone else may object to but your heart wants.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAMILY’S SENSE OF STYLE?
– We love music, art, traveling and surfing. All that is, of course, visible and reflected in our style. It is personal with a lot of vintage and second-hand in both clothes and décor. We freely mix different colors and simply combine the things we love, so not so much planning there. We just use the things we like!

YOU ARE EXPECTING A LITTLE GIRL. CONGRATULATIONS! WHAT DO YOU PACK IN THE MATERNITY WARD BAG?
– Many thanks! I pack a lot of things so bare with me.

Homemade meals for me from my postpartum bible “The First Forty Days”. When I followed it after baby number two, I felt absolutely fantastic. The meals consist of at least two liters of chicken bone marrow broth, long-cooked stews consisting of organic potatoes, vegetables and chicken. Gluten-free porridge with goji berries, pumpkin seeds, turmeric, cardamom, chia seeds and walnuts. Raw Pink Coconut Water.

Burt’s Bee lip balm and face mist from C/O Gerd. Toothbrush and toothpaste from Humble & Co. Muslin blankets from Liewood for a comfy belly wrap. It is the best immediately after delivery. Eye mask in silk and earplugs. Long, oversized sweater, maternity leggings and oversized shirt. Car seat, Cloud Z, from Cybex. Breast pads in eco-cotton from ImseVimse & breastfeeding bra from Boob Design. Hairbrush Mason Pearson, dry shampoo from Gröna Gredelina. Micellar water, face cream, hand cream preferably from Aurelia Probiotic Skincare and Origins C vitamin eye cream, Eko Deo, Wild By Nature. Babynest Liewood. An oat milk for Mother Tea from Weleda. Run a double dip in each cup for breakfast and after dinner.

My camera and slippers.

AND IN THE CHANGING BAG?
– Eco diapers from Naty, water wipes from NatraCare Maternity. SoKind Nappy Balm. MAM’s new Supreme pacifiers in silicone. Liewood’s muslin felt. Water bottle in glass. Two swaps (bodies) for the baby. Nursing mat, Wilma, from Liewood.

WHICH CHILDREN’S BRANDS DO YOU LIKE?
Stella McCartney Kids has super cool, colorful clothes that boost joy, confidence and imagination. Swedish Mini Rodini – I have not found clothes with better quality that lasted as long as MR. A t-shirt that my six year-old wore when she was three has been passed on to my current three year-old and you can not see a bit of balling up or washing out in the fabric. Unbelievable. Plus the fantastic themes in the collections.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO SHOP SUSTAINABLY FOR CHILDREN?
– Yes, buy a garment that you really like and care for, instead of buying lots that you might discard quickly. If a garment is too cheap, it is cheap because it is absolutely not durable. It’s the easy way to look at it. Since I’m expecting a third girl, all the stuff is inherited, which is wonderful. I have been an eco-junkie on all levels for many, many years, so I always try to buy eco for them as best I can. Better and always fewer garments, fewer things. The same goes for interior design. Eco or materials that can be recycled and manufactured neatly. Second hand or vintage as well, of course!

HOW WILL YOU SPEND THE SUMMER AND WHICH GARMENTS DO YOU INVEST IN FOR YOUR CHILDREN THIS SUMMER?
– The Swedish archipelago and Mallorca! I always invest in Kavat sandals for the girls every summer. Ergonomic, sweet and superb quality. I’m a shoe nerd with the kids. They must have good shoes when they grow and develop.

YOU WILL MOVE HOME TO STOCKHOLM! HOW DO YOU WANT TO DECORATE THE CHILDREN’S ROOMS?
– The fewer things they have, the better they play. Soft cozy materials, good light sources, lots of books and a good reading corner and drawing table. We will have a bed from Oliver Furniture for Anais with space underneath to cozy up. It will soon be built with a bed for Aymeline when the baby needs its own. We have not yet had time to plan Aymeline’s room. However, we will paint both girls’ rooms with a soft peach tone from Beckers. Children need peace and order around them so they can have free imagination!

A DAY ON THE BEACH, WHICH 5 THINGS DO YOU PACK IN YOUR BAG?
1. Organic sunscreen from Rudolph Care.
2. A book (I say that my glass is half full) even if I do not have time to read a single page, it is always with me! Right now I’m reading Elin Cullhed’s “Euphoria”
3. Beach towels from Hotel Magique.
4. Beach umbrella from Konges Slojd. 50 UV, durable manufacturing and so nice.
5. Beach toys from Liewood (100% silicone) are both durable and eco-friendly. They are expensive but we take good care of them instead of cheap plastic things.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO RECOMMEND?
– The book “The First Forty Days” about the extremely sensitive time after childbirth. That book is so close to my heart! It contains traditional Chinese food recipes, advice and thoughts on everything for the time after the baby is born. Fantastic book. 10/10

About getting g(old)

about getting g(old)

to be an adult is simply to see your body grow, your mind will hopefully always stay the same. Wiser of course, and changing. When I say it stays the same I mean the things that makes you, you. Your hearts desire, your purpose on the earth, your souls composition.
