The beginners guide to hiking the mountains with babies and toddlers
2 years ago
If you follow me on instagram (@emelietorling) , you probably saw that our Sunday did not at all turned out how we planned it too!
Actually planned and planned, we did not plan at all / did not do our research before bringing one baby and one toddler up on the snowy Swiss mountains. Huge amateur moment, HUGE!
(Also is it OK if I write in english on the blog or do you prefer Swedish?)
In the morning I googled up “panoramic Swiss hiking trail” and saw something that looked ok. I made pancakes (yeah, it´s really true, but they leaked sticky jam everywhere so you can breathe out) ,and put on my non-waterproof summer sneakers, cashmere pants, no hat and no nothing, and took the family out for a hike 30 min close by via car.
(Nobody in the fam wore anything different from me in terms of good clothing)
We parked the car, it was so grey, it was foggy and no sunshine what so ever. Saw a few people in full winter outfits, and we laughed and said: ! it´s really not THAT cold. People are always exaggerating. Nerdy. Etc”.
Then, we saw a red fairytale train, and realized that we were going up, up, up. And we did.
